About Me
With over a decade of experience in structural engineering design and research, Cody blends a strong research foundation with creativity and a positive outlook, enhancing the entire design and construction process. His diverse design portfolio spans from multi-story residential structures and condominiums to custom single-family homes.
Before founding Harrington Engineering, Cody worked as a Lead Principal at Gabbart & Woods Tahoe Partners / Structural Engineers, where he led numerous complex projects in the high-seismic and heavy snow-load region of Lake Tahoe/Truckee, where exposed structures posed unique challenges. His expertise included design, 3D modeling, structural analysis, and project detailing. Collaborating with world-class architects, Cody also provided general construction administration and advanced seismic observation for projects requiring precise execution.
In addition to his extensive design experience, Cody has made valuable contributions to structural engineering research. He worked at Haselton Baker Risk Group, helping to develop the Seismic Performance Prediction Platform (SP3), which facilitates resilient seismic design and provides in-depth building-specific risk assessments. He also collaborated with the Applied Technology Council on a FEMA-funded project (ATC 78) to establish a cost-effective methodology to analyze the collapse risk of nonductile concrete buildings. His work focused on predicting column drift capacity, demand, and structural collapse probabilities.
Cody was born and raised in Lake Tahoe and when he is not in the office, he’s is happiest outside exploring his backyard through climbing, skiing, biking and sharing the beauty of the area with his family. Cody is a member of the Canyon Studio group.
